Two Men and a Truck, offers professional furniture dismantling and reassembly of most large house and office furniture items to make your move as smooth and stress-free as possible. However, some items require a carpenter or specialist. In this article we cover what we can and can't do when it comes to dismantling and reassembly of furniture.

Why Furniture Dismantling Matters

Large furniture often won’t fit through doorways, staircases, or lifts without being taken apart first. Disassembling items helps:

  • Prevent damage to furniture and walls
  • Make transport safer and faster
  • Improve efficiency on move day

Furniture We Can Dismantle & Reassemble

Most furniture, especially beds and modular items, is designed to be dismantled using basic tools like screwdrivers and Allen keys. Our experienced team comes equipped with the basic tools needed to safely dismantle and reassemble standard household and office furniture.

Beds & Bedroom Furniture

  • Bed frames (all sizes)
  • Headboards
  • Bunk beds
  • Base frames and slats

Most bed frames are made up of headboards, footboards, side rails, and slats, all connected with bolts or screws for easy assembly and transport.

Tables & Dining Furniture

  • Dining tables (removable legs)
  • Coffee tables
  • Side tables

These typically require only basic tools and are quick to dismantle and reassemble.

Office Furniture

  • Desks (including L-shaped desks)
  • Office workstations
  • Modular shelving units

Modular office furniture is designed to be taken apart and moved efficiently, making it ideal for relocation.

General Household Items

  • Flat-pack furniture
  • Freestanding wardrobes (where possible)
  • Small bookcases (non-fixed)
  • TV stands and entertainment units

These items are generally not fixed to walls and can be safely handled by our team.

TV Brackets

We can dismantle TV wall brackets as part of your move. However, we do not currently reinstall TV brackets at your new property. This requires drilling or fixing the bracket to the wall, which is not something we do not currently offer.

Furniture We Can't Dismantle and Reassemble

Some furniture is professionally installed and not designed to be dismantled without specialised tools and expertise. To avoid structural damage to the property, damage to the furniture and the item being incorrectly reassembled, you should contact a carpenter for these items.

Built-In & Custom Carpentry

  • Built-in wardrobes
  • Custom cabinets
  • Fitted bookshelves
  • Kitchen cupboards and counters

These are often fixed directly into walls or floors, sometimes using anchors, adhesives, or concealed fittings. Removing them incorrectly can cause damage to both the furniture and the property.

Permanently Fixed or Complex Installations

  • Wall-mounted storage systems
  • Custom entertainment units
  • Floating shelves fixed into walls
  • Shopfitting counters and reception desks

These items are typically installed by professionals and require a qualified carpenter to safely dismantle and reinstall.
